Question about the current Waivers..

So I Dep'ped in Feb 02 originally as an HM, turned in my Packet for Nuc early March and it's been about 5 months since I turned in my packet and all my Nuc Coord tells me is that waivers are backed up(He's also one of the recruiters at my station).

My waivers were for  "D" and an "F" in Algebra 2, Being Chinese(i think or something else doing with Chinese) And the standard Why you want to be in the program..

1)So my question is why is the waivers being backed up so much?
2)Anybody else having a problem with the waivers getting through?
3)Anybody got a waiver through between the months of March through August?

**Oh yeah, new to posting but been creeping around for over two months now, reading posts from other people and I must say that this is a VERY resourceful site for information about the Navy Nuc program.

There's a number of reasons the waivers "are backed up." The current FY's budget might be one of them.

If you signed up to be an HM because you wanted A) an office job, or B) to help people, I highly suggest getting your HM option back. Your recruiter probably told you to go nuke because it's the 'smartest' job.

At first, I thought the Medical side of the Navy was going to be a good option but then I was told of the opportunities that lay ahead after Navy Nuc, I read/heard about life after the Navy and it sounded like something I wanted. I never really talked to my actual recruiter(s), besides the Nuc which he is really cool because he didn't considered me a quota, he never even considered anyone of the recruits he's helping to get into Navy Nuc a quote because he doesn't take his recruiting job seriously and the only reason my NC1 put up with him is because he gets Nuc's through. I think I was the one who actually became interested in Navy Nuc.
It was weird that at MEPS that they never even told me Nuc was an option, I thought I had to be in the 90s+ Asvab score to even get a shot at it. It was until he came back from his 2 month vacation that I actually seen him the first time at the station and was surprised that he was a recruiter there. I told him that I was interested in Navy Nuc and he said he would help me and long story short, I got my full packet/ passing scores but still waiting on the waivers.
Oh yeah, maybe my Navy Nuc may have been persuasive even after i decided to join, talking about his future job with the city of LA, making 250k a year or something (any truth to that?) And stories about playing laser tag inside a boomer on the USS Nevada (i think). (0.o) He actually had some good advice for me when I go to Nuc school like studying hard, not get distracted.
Unlike my actual recruiter with his best advice as "make nuc"..

Unless he is going to move to LA as a distributor of consumer psychodelic pharmaceuticals in a multi-level marketing organization...he won't be making even half of what he boasts. https://personline.lacity.org/job_list/ has the pay scale for city jobs.

I am having the same problem. I had a poor grade in High school algebra and I have been waiting for about three months.Every week I get a new excuse, every Monday they tell me they will know by Friday and visa versa. I am currently classified as AECF which also sounds like a great field. However I am  very interested in the college credits that the Nuc program offers. I should know this thursday whether I got in or not but either way I think they both have there pros and cons.

Actually Load Dispatchers with LADWP make $60.89/hr after about 3 years and being NERC qualified....with overtime their are many making 200k plus/year. I don't know if this was what the recruiter was talking about though

No truth at all. Just called LADWP as they have an ad online for a Senior Load Dispatcher, None are making over 60 and hour and those who make over 200K with OT are nearly living at work.

Not to mention that living in LA draws a 980 millibar vacuum, plus I doubt your recruiter can pass the NERC RC exam... 'nuf said!

Mikey...stick to being a know at all with nuclear power...not grid operations...LADWP website has MOUs wirh payscales...Load Dispatchers NERC qualified are at 60.89/hr...yearly salary not counting differential or any overtime is 127k..SR Load Dispatcher is several dollars an hour more....all overtime...unless 72 hrs notice is double time and 7% night differential and 4% afternoon diff....450 to 500 hrs overtime a year gets you about 200k..you must have called the LAPD not LADWP!

I know exactly who I called and what they told me. They don't reach the 127 K Amount, they usually top out at midpoint.
