Job description
POSITION DESCRIPTION

Perform power-flow, fault level, stability, reliability, and facility addition studies of the Ameren transmission system and interconnected transmission systems. Develop expertise in the power system analysis field, perform special studies, and participate in research as assigned. Key responsibilities include:

- Use computer modeling techniques to assess system adequacy and to identify the optimum size, configuration, and timing of new transmission facilities. Perform economic analyses to evaluate transmission upgrade alternatives. Work with other areas to reach consensus and issue engineering documents to initiate design and construction.
- Participate in NERC and Regional (SERC) standards development and compliance study activities.
- Perform special studies and participate in activities related to the development of MISO Transmission Expansion Plan.
- Perform generator interconnection studies.
- Coordinate joint activities and studies with other departments, functions, and companies; and participate in public workshops on the need for future facilities.


Description of ideal candidate
Education
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with an emphasis in power systems, from an accredited college or university required. Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license also preferred.

Experience
One or more years experience in power system analysis or related fields with knowledge of personal computer systems preferred.

Other
Must have good analytical, decision-making, communication, and human relations skills. Must also have capability to work independently on major projects.
