Job description
COMMSSIONING & ACCEPTANCE PROJECT MANAGER

Position Summary:

With limited supervision, manage (plan, coordinate, track and implement) small to medium size projects in support of facility design, construction, turnover, startup, operation, or decommissioning. Utilize basic project management fundamentals to achieve established project objectives within defined schedule and cost constraints.

The education, experience and responsibilities of this position are requirements of Chapter II of the SAR. Any changes must be evaluated by Licensing and Human Resources prior to changing.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):

E        Lead and coordinate project teams typically of 5 to 10 personnel. Establish priorities within assigned projects, direct project activities, and maintain a general knowledge of all aspects of assigned projects.
E        Make presentations to NEF senior management regarding the status of the ongoing project, propose team developed recommendations for any significant project issues requiring management attention.
E        Prepare and submit routine project status reports.
E        Manage project budget and schedule. Update schedule and cost information, including projections, as needed during the project implementation period. Process baseline schedule and cost revisions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
E        Lead post project lessons learned sessions to identify and implement improvements to future project opportunities.
E        Interface with design agencies, construction agencies, vendors and manufacturers, state and federal regulatory agencies and other outside organizations on project activities.
E        Lead the resolution of significant project issues and the development of solutions.
E        Ensure technical and quality reviews of project deliverables are performed.
E        Apply sound judgment in selecting and applying resources and solutions with minimal direction from supervision or peers.
E        Support achievement of schedules and commitments.
•        Maintain a broad knowledge of NEF policies, procedures, and organizational roles and responsibilities.
•        Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced project personnel on the overall project approach and project management fundamentals.
•        Foster an environment of open communication, problem resolution, and project ownership.
•        Operate within and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, industry codes and industry standards.
•        Apply industrial and radiological safety practices in the performance of all field duties.
•        Identify areas for performance and process improvements.
•        Perform other project management support activities as required.




Responsibility for the Work of Others: Work Leadership

Titles of those jobs supervised or receiving work leadership: Engineer I, Engineer II, Engineer III, Senior Engineer


Job Qualifications (refers to job, not incumbent):        

Education:         Minimum:        Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering discipline, construction management, or project management OR a PE license
        Preferred:        
        
Experience:         Minimum:        6 to 10 years of project management experience, which must include one rotation (i.e., work in different disciplines, managing different type projects, different organizations, different assignments, etc.).
        Preferred:        2 years experience in a nuclear facility.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations: Maintain US NRC nuclear fitness for duty qualification. Attain/maintain a US government L-Level or Q-Level security clearance (based on assigned responsibilities). Project Management Certification preferred.

Other:         
•        Understanding of basic project management principles and techniques, including scheduling, resource loading, development and implementation of project plans, etc.
•        Ability to take direction/lead and function as a team member to solve a variety of project issues.
•        Must have excellent computer skills, the ability to follow written procedures and instructions and knowledge of scheduling software tools and reports.
•        Support Urenco Core Values (Safety, Integrity, Flexibility, Development and Profitability) as they apply at the individual level.

Working Conditions (relates to physical environment):

Industrial and radiological environment.

Physical Demands:

Ability to walk, climb and work in an industrial and radiological environment and perform tasks while wearing respiratory devices and other personnel protective equipment. All limitations, such as color blindness, phobias, hearing impairments, etc. shall be disclosed.

Position Interacts With (internal and external contacts):

Engineering department staff, NEF senior management, design agencies, construction agencies, vendors and manufacturers, state and federal regulatory agencies and other outside organizations.
