Job description
Alstom Power, Inc., a global leader and provider of power generation engineering, products, and services, is seeking a Project Manager for its Turbomachines Group. The individual will manage the overall technical and commercial responsibility for steam turbine/generator projects based at our Richmond, VA location.
Basic Functions:
The Project Manager has overall technical and commercial responsibility for steam turbine/generator projects. The Project Manager shall be the official interface with the Customer as well as any other Alstom Power global entities involved in the Project. The Project Manager is responsible to maintain or improve the budget while maintaining high Customer Satisfaction. This position requires 40% travel.
Essential Functions:
The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following (may perform other functions as assigned):
Provides overall direction of Alstom staff, Architect/Engineer, Vendors and any Third Party on steam turbine/generator projects.
Work closely with European counterpart to assure on-time delivery of equipment.
Develops and implements the integrated project schedule.
Administrates requirements of Architect/Engineer or Engineer/Constructor contracts and compliance with prime contract.
Develops list of key interfaces, resolves differences between interfacing organizations and develops the distribution list of responsible key interfaces.
Identifies critical issues requiring immediate action and ensures that corrective action is taken.
Administrates engineering and scope changes.
Approval/release of specifications, RFQs to allow procurement based on specifications.
Administration of master document lists in accordance with project integrated.
Develops recovery plans when necessary.
Reports on status and responds to critical issues at project review meetings.
Provides support at construction review meetings to ensure that engineering is consistent with the construction plan and schedule.
Participates in owner meetings as required.
Provides sales support as required to maintain and improve quality and competitiveness of proposals.
Contribute to the development of standards and procedure tools to improve quality and effectiveness of project activities.
Determine methods of budget improvement.
Maintain high customer satisfaction.
Associate Qualifications
Experience in the power generation area, preferably steam turbines, of at least 5 years
Experience to have executed a complete project in this field from NTP throughout warranty
Leading a multi-national team with team members being allocated in Europe and Asia
Flexible and open minded
Working in a multi-national company environment with guidance coming out of Europe
Customer oriented but tough in representing ALSTOM interests
Goal oriented to improve cash, profit, delivery time, etc. of the project
Strong contracts and claim knowledge
Basic financial understandings
Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
Minimum 5 years project management-related experience in the power industry experience.
Skills/Experience:
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Experience in overall design, testing, and operation of power plants and power plant equipment
Experience with ALSTOM scheduling tools (Primavera, MS Projects). Familiar with A/E design practices, design bases, and design techniques and ensures compliance with industry-accepted practices.
Strong problem solving, creativity, and communication skills.

This is a full time position with benefits to include full relocation package and lump sum payment for temporary living. We will move household goods at Alstom's expense. We also pay home finding fee for candidate and spouse to fly to Richmond for 5 days to look for new home.
