Job description
This position is currently located at the General Office in Hudson, Wisconsin, which will be relocating to Marquette Plaza in Minneapolis. This position applies a high degree of technical and interpersonal knowledge and skills to supervise and coordinate the screening, grading, and reconstitution of engineering calculations for the Prairie Island Nuclear Plant as part of the Calculation Reconstitution and Improvement Project (CRIP). The qualified candidate will organize and manage the ongoing CRIP effort to screen calculations for criticality, oversee the grading based on technical and administrative quality and manage reconstitution of those calculations with significant deficiencies. The position is responsible for addressing equipment and plant operability issues as they are identified through reviews and reconstitution, ensuring close coordination in conjunction with other major plant activities such as steam generator replacement, power uprate and other interfaces with major modifications.

The responsibilities include setting priorities, scheduling work, assigning resources, and procuring resources, reporting, establishing milestones, meeting goals and implementing the project management process. The position will assist the site in incorporating calculations into plant design and licensing bases, records management, indexing and retrieval methodology development.

The position will have responsibility for supervising direct reports including direct employees and contractors (onsite and offsite). Interfacing with site organizations including Design Engineering, Systems Engineering, Programs Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Document Control, Records Management, Nuclear Projects and Site Management will be required. Other programs may be assigned as determined by the Fleet Design Engineering Manager.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for supervising design engineering personnel responsible for performing engineering activities to support the NMC sites. Supervision includes work management, technical mentoring, technical review of work products, monitoring the health of the design basis and the configuration of the plant relative to that design basis, oversight of modification development and implementation, pre-job briefs for work assignments, performance plan development and review, and coaching associated with engineer performance.
Essential Responsibilities: Percent of Time
a) Provide technical and personnel leadership and coaching to the engineering staff. This includes mentoring of new personnel and existing personnel to new technologies. Establishing and enforcing quality expectations for engineering products such as calculations, operablity reviews, safety reviews, work planning, design activities, specification development, and corrective action program related activities. 60%
b) Develop schedules, utilize work management tools, make assignments for engineering related activities to support site and fleet goals. 20%
c) Represent the engineering department in plant meetings and industry/fleet activities.

Description of ideal candidate
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering required. 8 years of nuclear experience preferred. Must have significant experience with evaluating and solving engineering issues; professional engineering certification is preferred; management training or education preferred.
