Job description
ReNuke Services is currently recruiting for a Power Uprate Lead Engineer. Harris Nuclear Plant is currently in the process of implementing a multi-phased power uprate project consisting of a thermal power uprate (1.7% Measurement Uncertainty Recapture) and various BOP efficiency improvements for a total uprate of 60+ MWe. The lead engineer will be responsible for providing oversight of vendors during the detailed analysis phase of the HNP thermal power uprate project. The assigned individual will also be responsible for producing the Master Engineering Change Package that will serve as the basis for thermal power uprate as well as overseeing to preparation of the License Amendment Request to be submitted to the NRC and ensuring product quality. Responsibilities will Include: • Preparation of Master Uprating Modification. This modification will be the vehicle used to contain all of the outsourced engineering analyses required to support the MUR and will house all of the design inputs/assumptions utilized in the subject analyses. This will require the individual obtain and hold qualifications for the preparation of Engineering Change Packages. • Ensuring consistent use of design inputs and assumptions and providing inputs as needed to support outsourced engineering efforts. This will require the individual obtain and hold qualifications for Design Verifier. • Serving as the PGN point of contact for activities related to the preparation of the LAR (License Amendment Request) needed to facilitate the MUR Uprate. Upon completion but prior to NRC submittal, the individual will be responsible for providing an Owner’s Review. • Ensuring proper resolution of NRC RAIs associated with the power uprate LAR. • Provide status updates on the progress of outsourced engineering products.

Requirements:

BS degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution required (Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering preferred). • Commercial nuclear power experience. • Obtaining and maintaining unescorted security access to the nuclear plant and participation in the random fitness for duty program. • Obtaining and maintaining qualifications for preparation and verification of Engineering Change packages and performing 10 CFR 50.59 screenings and evaluations. Expected to obtain qualifications within the first 90 days of employment. • Leadership and project management skills. • SRO license or certification at a commercial PWR (Desired). Westinghouse PWR experience preferred. • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to promptly identify items needing resolution and then recommend appropriate corrective actions. This assignment duration is expected to last through July 2010. Pay is $80 - $90/hr, but there is flexibility for the right candidate and a daily per diem of $75 is also available.
