Job description
General MDAB Project Information
The LANS EM Program has funded the MDAB Project to safely excavate, characterize, and disposition the first 10 burial trenches from the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos, used from 1944 to 1948. The site contains over high hazard, mixed and low level wastes, requiring the excavation of about 125,000 CY of materials. Level A blast protection during active excavation operations is required under the DSA and TSR.
DeNuke is seeking highly motivated and committed staff for management of this marquee project, being conducted near a light industrial area of Los Alamos. Experience must include remediation of legacy burial sites for DOE, Level A operations experience, excellent references and willingness to commit to being in Los Alamos 100% of the time, and to see the project through to completion. Current LANS training is highly desirable. These are full time, fully benefited DeNuke positions, reporting to the MDAB Project Manager.
DeNuke, as a team member and subcontractor to Portage, Inc., prime contractor to LANS, is seeking highly qualified candidates for the following positions for full time assignment to the MDAB project starting in early June.

Waste Management Coordinator—shall oversee the implementation of the Waste Management Plan, Waste preparation of waste-related documentation, waste processing and packaging, onsite transfer and offsite shipping, condition and maintenance of waste storage areas and equipment. On-site commitment—100% exclusive of scheduled vacations, personal leave, or sick time.

Shall have at least ten (10) years of experience in the implementation and management of hazardous and radiological waste management programs; including the assay, preparation, packaging, labeling and shipping of source material and radioactive materials. At least 5 years of total experience shall have been on field projects of greater than $3M, with demonstrated success in transporting wastes to LLRW disposal facilities, hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal (TSD) facilities. Familiarity with waste profile preparation and compliance with waste acceptance criteria compliance is required, as well as DOT transportation shipper certification per 49 CFR 172, Subpart H. Experience with LANL waste management programs is preferred or a project similar in nature and within the DOE complex.

Duration: start June 08 – Complete project before December 2010.
Salary - $80-90 K with full benefits, and performance based incentives
Relocation allowance, temporary living expenses for 90 days
