Job description
Simulator Software Engineer (Job Ref# JP33086-TR)

Location: San Clemente, CA

Basic Qualification:
The successful candidate must possess a Bachelors Degree in Engineering. Possess a minimum of five years of engineering experience. Minimum of three years of experience in software development using FORTRAN or C/C++ programming languages.

Job Requirements:
Demonstrated experience recommending software upgrades to management. Demonstrated experience with SQL databases. Demonstrated experience with software configuration management and software integration. Demonstrated experience in Windows system administration. Demonstrated ability to read/ understand technical drawings such as piping and instrumentation diagrams, elementary control diagrams, and one-line electrical diagrams. Must have experience analyzing and solving problems, through independently resolving design issues. Must have demonstrated experience with project planning, scheduling, and tracking. Must have experience researching, synthesizing, organizing data, and making recommendations. Must have demonstrated experience effectively performing engineering tasks in a team setting. Must have strong oral and written communication skills, including experience with technical writing. Demonstrated ability to interface effectively and collaborate with employees, outside organizations, and all levels of management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in. Must demonstrate the ability to independently take initiative and accountability for the accuracy of information and for achieving results. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email.

Preferences:
Demonstrated experience with Java programming language. Demonstrated familiarity with numerical methods used in real-time nuclear power plant modeling. Experience as a Simulator Software Engineer.

Typical Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will serve as a simulator software engineer within the Maintenance Engineering group at the San Onofre Generating Station (SONGS). He/she will play a critical role in maintaining the simulator. Typical responsibilities will include: fixing simulator software deficiencies; implementing plant design changes into the simulator; improving simulator modeling fidelity to meet changing training requirements; reporting engineering findings to others; managing software engineering projects; troubleshooting simulator hardware and software; and performing other duties as assigned.
