Job description

Basic Qualifications:
Possess a Bachelors Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must have a minimum of five years experience in design, maintenance, or systems engineering in an electric generating station or maintenance supervision experience as well as 5 years at a nuclear power plant.

Job Requirements:
The successful candidate must possess the ability to perform extensive technical analysis pertaining to the design, selection and specification of power plant equipment and systems. Demonstrated experience making recommendations for substitute materials in the plant that have been found obsolete. Demonstrated excellent computer skills including the ability to retrieve, organize, and analyze data. Demonstrated ability to serve as an internal subject matter expert on matters related to design or maintenance of a Nuclear power plant. Demonstrated ability to present information orally and in writing to promote change. Demonstrated ability to work under minimal direction and independently determine and develop solutions to complex technical problems. Demonstrated ability to accurately gather and analyze information, integrate people processes, systems, and technologies, and make decisions regarding project scope, impact, and implementation. Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with clients, peers, contractors, vendors, regulatory agencies and all levels of management, to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in. Must demonstrate the ability to take initiative and accountability for results while working independently.

Preferences:
BS in Technical Field or Engineering. Professional Engineer's License in California.

Typical Responsibilities:
This position will prepare configuration and design change packages for electrical, instrumentation and controls systems and components. Typical responsibilities include: identifying and evaluating replacement components for obsolete plant equipment; developing Substitution Equivalency Evaluations (SEE) to demonstrate that replacement components meet the form, fit and function criteria; generating Commercial Grade Dedication and acceptance plans and documentation necessary for accepting commercial grade materials for safety-related applications; establishing the technical requirements for the procurement of replacement components necessary for plant maintenance and/or modification; providing technical support for the SONGS supply chain (material support, procurement, quality assurance, and design engineering) by determining the critical requirements of services and materials; performing independent reviews of peer work products as directed by the Supervising Engineer; other duties as assigned.
