Job description

Typical Responsibilities:
The successful candidate is an Instructional Technologist for the San Onofre Nuclear Training Division. The Technologist researches, designs, and develops instructional technology courses to support operations, engineering, and technical training for Institute for Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) accredited programs. Other areas of responsibility and tasks are: Provide instruction for conducting training needs assessment, job/task analysis, student evaluation methods, and lesson plan development. Present/facilitate training courses for instructors in the following settings: classroom, simulator, laboratory instructor, laboratory, and on-the-job training. Coordinate and track training for the instructional staff. As a team lead, determine major project milestones and deliverables. Collateral duties may include Professional Resources for Outage (PRO) during refueling outage and membership in the SONGS Emergency Response Organization (ERO).
The Instructional Technologist also represents SCE and SONGS through participation at industry conferences and workshops, and through peer assessments. Some business travel is required.

Basic Qualifications / General Job Requirements:
The successful candidate must have a minimum of six years experience in developing and/or delivering training. Further, the successful candidate will have already demonstrated the following skills, abilities, knowledge and experience: systematic approach to training in a commercial, industrial, or military environment; teaching adult learners using accelerated learning techniques; developing and delivering multimedia presentations; using training systems databases; researching, designing, updating or developing training courses; presenting/facilitating training courses, determining pass/ fail criteria and remediation/coaching paths. Possess the ability to serve as an Instructional Technology subject matter expert to line personnel. Work well in a team through application of excellent oral, written, and listening skills to communicate both technical and non-technical information. Meet established deadlines, identify potential problems and recommend solutions. Conduct needs assessment and job/task analysis to determine scope of training. Troubleshoot problems in the work locations related to training and/or skill level of the workforce. Also possess project management skills.

The successful candidate will be expected to acquire and maintain a SONGS Unescorted Access (Red Badge) status.

Education:
A Bachelors Degree in instructional technology or comparable degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.

Preferred Skills:
A Masters Degree in Instructional Technology or comparable degree is preferred. Experience as an Instructional Technologist at a US Nuclear Power Plant, accredited by the National Academy for Nuclear Training is also desired. Experience using VISION Learning and Performance Support System is preferred.
