Job description
Exelon is currently looking for a Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Specialist at our corporate office, located in Warrenville, IL.
Primary Purpose of Position:
The Asset Management NDE position is responsible for defining methods, policies, and practices to ensure compliance with industry guidelines, regulations and standards. The position is responsible for identifying and implementing best NDE practices and techniques, out-of-the-box recommendations to address situations were the "norm" NDE technique may not work, supports technical programs and process issues. Represents Exelon in industry wide initiatives and responsible for providing governance, oversight, and support for all Exelon nuclear sites. The position is responsible for technical decisions, requires excellent knowledge in functional discipline and it's practical application, and has knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations. The position requires an excellent working relationship with the NDE services group to ensure that Exelon is proactively pursuing and resolving NDE issues. This position provides the successful candidate the opportunity to interface with Senior and Executive Management to affect results.
Major Accountabilities
1.) Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve NDE problems.
2. Become a voting member and participate in Material Reliability Program and PDI committees in support of inspection technology, guidelines preparation and strategic directions.
3. Recommend equipment, new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify inspection, reduce costs, resolve inspection issues, or comply with changes in guidelines or codes.
4. Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work ensuring proper management controls and assuring that standard practices; procedures, and industry guidelines are used in preparation of inspection plans.
5. Perform assessment of program implementation and outage readiness.
Minimum Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in PDI qualification
- Working knowledge in ASME Code, BWRVIP and Material Reliability Program (MRP) requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and implementing technical programs in support of new NDE technologies.
- Demonstrated experience in NDE inspection technology, , guideline preparation, and strategic direction.
- Established technical mentor and recognized as an industry expert in area discipline.
- Demonstrated work experience in the BWR and/or PWR industry.
- Bachelor of Science Technical Degree & 6 years experience in ISI/NDE technology; or a technical associate degree & 8 years experience in ISI/NDE Technology; or ten years experience in ISI/NDE technology.
- Must be able to travel for industry participation and plant support.
- Must have excellent computer skills, communication skills, and experience in database administration.
Preferred:
Prefer candidate with or be able to obtain Level III certifications in the following NDE methods:
- Liquid Penetrant
- Ultrasonic (PDI qualified)
- Radiography
- Magnetic Particle
- Visual Testing
