Job description

Basic Qualifications / General Job Requirements:
The successful candidate must possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical design, maintenance, or systems engineering in an electric generating station or at a nuclear power plant is required. The successful candidate will have already demonstrated the following skills, abilities, knowledge and experience as outlined below: performs technical analysis pertaining to the design, selection and specification of power plant equipment and systems and preparing design change packages. Possesses knowledge of, and experience with, nuclear power system engineering, equipment, and practices. Possesses knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, practices, and advanced engineering principles necessary to conduct component aging management reviews and develop aging management programs. Provides engineering support for major projects like self assessment. Effectively completes multiple, concurrent assignments, meets dead lines and delivers high quality products. Prepares studies and reports, makes oral presentations, and explains complex technical concepts in simple terms to both technical and non-technical personnel. Leads and participates on cross- functional engineering design teams. Possesses oral and written communication skills, and is customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to clients' business needs. Accurately analyzes information and makes sound decisions to solve complex technical problems. Interfaces effectively and collaborates with clients, peers, management, and other work units. Acts independently. Motivates self and others to overcome obstacles and achieve goals. Possesses proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. ANSI N18.1-1971 requirements: shall be competent in technical matters related to plant safety and in other engineering and scientific support aspects.

Education / Licensure:
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required. A Professional Engineers license registered with the state of California is needed as a prerequisite for consideration.

Typical Responsibilities:
As an Engineer in the Electrical/Controls group within Design Engineering Organization, the successful candidate prepares design change packages, specifications, for electrical systems, plant security and communication systems and components of a nuclear power plant. Further, the candidate works with plant engineering, operations and maintenance organizations in solving emerging issues that affect the operability of the plant. The Engineer establishes and maintains component and system design bases for electrical components and systems. Other duties and responsibilities are performed as required.
