Washington Division of URS Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work on our FERMI Nuclear Plant project based out of our Newport, MI office.

Additional Responsibilities:

Engineers are responsible for:
• Performing basic engineering calculations, prepare specifications, reports and related data tables.
• Maintain liaison with design and drafting groups
• Prepare, review, and approve drawings as required.

Under the direction of the Supervising Discipline Engineer,
•        Engineers maintain project coordination with all other disciplines on an assigned project.
•        Keeps the supervising engineer advised as to status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems.
•        Supervises, assigns work, sets work priorities, evaluates and trains technical and engineering personnel.
•        Provides technical assistance and guidance to technical and engineering personnel.
•        Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities.
•        Assures quality, quantity, and completeness of the engineering required.
•        Plans and schedules engineering efforts associated with assigned projects.
•        Maintains timeliness and accuracy of oral and written technical reports regarding assigned engineering activities.
•        Maintains proper engineering files and records.
•        Performs other engineering related work as required.

•        May perform technical assignments of various complexities within approved engineering schedules and budgets.
•        May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.
•        May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned engineering and design/drafting personnel.
•        May be required to comply with the applicable state requirements related to affixing registered engineers seal on engineering documents.

Description of ideal candidate
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four (4) year accredited college or university, or equivalent education.
Experience: 7+ years engineering experience in the discipline.


Preferred Qualifications:
•        Candidate must have significant experience with nuclear projects.
•        Familiar with – nuclear licensing – contract administration and vendor documents – engineering evaluation
•        Professional engineer license preferred.
