Job description
Washington Division of URS Corporation is seeking a Senior Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer to work at our Aiken, SC office.

Description of ideal candidate
Basic Qualifications:
•        Work with a project team to perform criticality hazards analysis to identify process upsets, controls parameters, and potential controls.
•        Prepare the following types of reports: nuclear criticality safety evaluations (NCSE), radiation shielding reports, criticality and shielding sections of Safety Analysis Reports for Packaging (SARPs), and 12-RAD Zone and Criticality Alarm System (CAS) Placement reports.
•        Perform facility procedure reviews to ensure NCS controls are implemented.
•        Perform facility walk-downs to ensure NCS controls are being followed.
•        Perform NCS program & facility assessments.
•        Perform other NCS Engineer responsibilities, as appropriate.
•        Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four (4) year accredited college or university, or equivalent education.
•        Experience: 10+ years engineering experience in the discipline.


Preferred Qualifications:

•        Ten years experience in discipline or specialty
•        Due to the nature of our work and our contracts with federal agencies, all candidates are required to be U.S. citizens and able to obtain a security clearance
•        Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•        Experience with either MCNP and/or SCALE computer codes
•        Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Internet browsers
•        Professional engineer license preferred.
Must be highly motivated and be able to work independently and in a team environment.
