Job description
NUCLEAR CORE DESIGN ENGINEERS - PERMANENT POSITIONS in Lynchburg, VA
Assist in nuclear reactor core design and reactivity management activities for a pressurized water reactor. Specific responsibilities include:
•        Reactor fuel nuclear and thermal design, reactor control rod pattern generation and reactivity control with burnable poisons, fuel depletion and cycle length calculations, core neutronic and thermal-hydraulic analysis, and core operation strategies.
•        Analyses may involve the use of engineering computer codes to assess pressure drop and flow distribution in reactor cores.
•        Support out-of-core design nand reactivity management activities, such as irradiated fuel management, source-term generation, shielding and dose rate calculations, and core refueling operations.
•        Basic knowledge of related codes i.e., COBRA, VIPRE, MCMP SCALE, CASMO, RELAP, GOTHIC, TRAC, TRACE is a plus!
•        General knowledge of nuclear power plants, thermal-hydraulics, chemistry and fluid systems.
US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.
