Responsibilities
Nuclear Programs Economic Analyst******THIS IS A MULTIPLE LEVEL POSTING******

The INL is seeking an Engineering Economist to support system studies performed by the DOE Nuclear Energy Advanced Fuel Cycle Initiative. The employee will have experience using tools and techniques including system dynamic models, macro-economic models, input-output models, facility capital financial models, econometric models, cost-benefit analysis, and lifecycle cost analysis of energy systems. Research experience associated with energy technologies, transportation, emissions and environmental policy, socioeconomic impacts, and technology costing and analysis is required. Research areas will include the analysis of national and global energy markets and the role of nuclear power and associated nuclear fuel suppliers. The candidate will have a record of publications and reports that demonstrate effective technical leadership and communication.

Other Responsibilities:

**Leadership for economic analysis of national and global energy markets, nuclear energy markets, advanced civilian nuclear power reactor systems and advanced fuel cycles. Creative development, implementation, application, and improvement of advanced economic modeling for advanced fuel cycles, with an emphasis on commercial Light Water Reactor (LWR) systems, sodium-cooled fast-spectrum reactors, graphite-moderated gas-cooled high-temperature reactors.
**Preparation, peer review, and delivery of proposals, program plans, oral presentations and other activities related to development of new INL programs and projects in areas of expertise, especially for economic analysis of advanced fuel cycles.
**Publish work in various customer-required reports as well as in the refereed literature including archival journals where appropriate. Participate in external professional activities such as American Nuclear Society (ANS) or other professional societies to the benefit of the work group and the INL as a whole.
**Mentoring, and technical supervision of less senior staff members, students and post-doctoral appointees.

Qualifications

Level 3: Bachelor¿s Degree in Economics, or related field plus 7 years experience. Advanced degree in Economics is highly desirable.
Level 4: Bachelor¿s Degree in Economics, or related degree, 11 years experience. Advanced degree in Economics is highly desirable.

Special Requirements: Advanced degree, Doctoral level preferred, in Economics, with significant technical experience. Demonstrated written and oral communications skills, via publication record and other externally visible evidence of professional accomplishment. Capability for independent leadership of small technical teams and development of research proposals.
