Job description
Our client is looking for a Senior Engineer who has Geotechnical and Seismic Analysis education / experience - with Nuclear Energy Experience.



The role is primarily a leadership / project management role leading Licensing Activities with the NRC for a new nuclear power plant.



The assignment is in Baltimore area with travel anticipated to various vendor locations.



Required Experience / Skill Sets for Seismic Interaction:

Understanding of seismic free-field ground motions based on Regulatory Guides 1.60, 1.165, or 1.208
Structure soil interaction (SSI) analysis using SASSI code
Design response spectra used in the development the input ground motion time histories
Comparison of foundation input response spectra (FIRS) against certified seismic design response spectra (CSDRS)
Structure interaction analysis
Static and dynamic soil properties, including structural backfill
Ground motion response spectra (GMRS) requirements of 10 CFR 100.23 with respect to the development of the SSE
10 CFR Part 50, Appendix S
10 CFR Part 100, Appendix A, "Seismic and Geologic Siting Criteria for Nuclear Power Plants.
10 CFR Part 100, Subpart B, "Evaluation Factors for Stationary Power Reactor Site Applications on or After January 10, 1997.
NUREG/CR-6728,Technical Basis for Revision of Regulatory Guidance on Design Ground Motions: Hazard- and Risk-consistent Ground Motion Spectra Guidelines.
Regulatory Guide 1.208, A Performance-Based Approach to Define the Site-Specific Earthquake Ground Motion.
Regulatory Guide 1.165, Identification and Characterization of Seismic Sources and Determination of Safe Shutdown Earthquake Ground Motion.



Geotechnical Skill Sets

Resonant column torsional shear testing (RCTS)
Static and dynamic soil properties analysis
Bearing capacity and settlement analysis
Soil column/randomization analysis
Earth pressure and liquefaction analysis
Slope stability analysis
