Job description
Provide radiological control functions including contamination and radiation control, area posting, area radiological monitoring for control purposes, radiological release materials, surface survey for radiological characterization and track radiological exposures for access control.

Senior duties may include working with routine and/or special equipment and will assist in training of trainees or RCTs.

As assigned by the employer: Perform special studies in the evaluation of radiological protection for personnel, environmental, or project area; participate in area specific radiation work qualification and requalification programs.

Prepare and maintain records and documentation as required; and provide assistance in the preparation of radiation control documents such as RWPs, ALARA forms, and work procedures.

Other duties and assignments as directed

Description of ideal candidate
Must certify and maintain RCT qualification in accordance with 10 CFR 835.

Senior RCT requires a minimum of 3 years experience as a Radiological Control Technician or equivalent education and experience is required.

RCT requires a Radiological Control Technician Training Program or equivalent education and experience is required.

Current valid driver's license and ability to operate a government vehicle is required.

Current DOE Core, NRRPT, AS Degree in Radiation Protection or Nuclear Technology, Department of Defense RadCon Qualification (Article 108), or completion of the Navy ELT Program is required.

Must be trained or be able to be trained in Hanford General Employee Training (HGET), Asbestos Awareness, Rad Worker II, 40 hr. Hazardous Waste, and Beryllium worker.

Must be able to work in radiological areas and be able to demonstrate ability to access all site locations including unimproved remote areas.


Must be able to pass a Hazardous Waste Worker, Beryllium and respiratory physical and remain qualified.

Must be able to obtain and maintain Hanford Site Access requirements.

Ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
