Job description
Interpret waste management and transportation rules, regulations, and policy to assist generators in the proper compliant management of facility and project waste including low level, mixed, TRU, hazardous, recyclable, and non-regulated waste.

Maintain general working knowledge of waste acceptance criteria and waste acceptance processes for receiving Treatment/Storage & Disposal (TSD) facilities.

Team/Interface with TSDs, generators and/or other customers/regulators to resolve specific waste management related concerns.

Description of ideal candidate
Previous experience at LANL, State & Federal environmental regulations (WAC, MTCA, RCRA, CERCLA, & TSCA) and radionuclide characterization desired.

Disciplined approach to documentation, development, maintenance and tracking of waste activities.

Proven effective interaction skills with multiple organizations, management, and customers.

Proven written and verbal communication skills.

Good computer skills and experience with database and spreadsheet programs.

Familiarity with DOT or transportation safety documents in relationship to movement of waste desired.

BS in Science/Engineering degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline.

Entry level to senior position in waste management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must be able to obtain a DOE badge.
