The SPRU remediation project will excavate over 6,500 CY of mixed and low level soils and debris starting in the summer of 2008 and scheduled to complete in the summer of 2010. DeNuke Services is announcing the opening of two, high visibility, radiological health physics positions for long term assignment at Los Alamos, NM.  DeNuke, as a Team Partner and subcontractor to Portage, Inc. General Contractor to LANS for remediation of the MDAB Site at TA-21, is responsible for implementation of the RPP and On-Site Screening Lab operations.

This project will require a high level of energy, creativity and development of an intimate working knowledge of the LANS EM, RP and WM Operations protocols, due to the numerous interfaces that will be established in the planning phase of the project, scheduled to start June 1. After operational readiness is achieved in ~February 2009, the project will excavate the first 10 trenches of High Hazard wastes created at Los Alamos from the Manhattan Project, disposed from 1944 to 1948.  Completion ids planned for the fall 2010.

Experience in administration of PPE programs that are Level A, with Blast Protection and current LANS RP Qualification and training records are minimum requirements.

 Weirich Consulting Services, Inc. has an immediate need for a Environmental Scientist at the Hanford Nuclear Site.







Job Duties:   This individual will be expected to fulfill duties as the Environmental Compliance Officer for assigned activities and facilities.  

The scientist will: 
	be required to identify applicable environmental requirements and assist management in establishing and implementing compliance strategies.  
	work with others to develop and maintain environmental regulatory documentation (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, NEPA, CAA, TSCA, etc.).  
	review work packages and environmental documents to ensure that environmental requirements are satisfied. 
	ensure that regulatory-based defensible positions are developed to be communicated to management and decision makers. 
	coordinate facility environmental regulatory compliance activities to meet requirements of permits, decision documents and/or regulatory agreements. 
	evaluate environmental regulatory compliance issues and review with FH management prior to issues becoming problems. 
	provide input on behalf of customers to support development of site-wide environmental regulatory report/deliverables. 
	coordinate and/or support regulatory compliance activities associated with waste sites. 
	support and/or perform self-assessments. 
	conduct professional and positive interactions with FH, RL, and regulators.

The individual must be able to complete employer's Environmental Compliance Officer qualification card within six months after hire.

The individual should possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to make timely decisions within established FH guidelines. An important aspect of the work is the ability and desire to take initiative to complete routine tasks independently and be proactive in promoting teamwork within the organization and with customers.

The individual will perform other duties as assigned by FH.

Required Qualifications: 
	B.S. degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, physical science or similar technical discipline
	Seven years directly applicable environmental experience.
	Familiarity with DOE directives
	Prior experience interacting with environmental regulators.
	Knowledge and experience across the breadth of environmental compliance and cleanup requirements with expertise in at least one topical area (such as waste management, air emissions, liquid effluents, NEPA, pollution prevention, chemical management, underground storage tanks, sampling and analysis, remediation, transportation, etc.).
	U.S. Citizenship

Desired Qualifications:  Familiarity with Fluor Hanford processes and specific knowledge of Solid Waste Operations Complex facilities (Waste retrieval, Burial Grounds, CWD, WRAP, T-Plant, ETF, LERF)
