PEACH BOTTOM ATOMIC POWER STATION UNIT 1

Peach Bottom 1 is located 19 Miles south of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, along with operating Peach Bottom units 2 and 3. This high temperature gas cooled reactor was shut down in 1974, and is currently in SAFSTOR.

The Peach Bottom site was a pioneer in U.S. nuclear involvement. Philadelphia Electric ordered its first reactor in 1958. Peach Bottom 1 was an experimental gas-cooled reactor. Peach Bottom 2 and 3 came on-line in 1973 and 1974, respectively.
