Operating Engineers use Shears to Cut Away Sections of Plant 8.

Plant 8, the Scrap Recovery Plant, recycled residues and scrap from the uranium production process. Ores, concentrates and process residues were roasted to oxidize the impurities and then filtered. The filtered material was converted to free flowing powder and transferred to Plant 2 for further processing. The D&D of the plants consists of surface decontamination, building and equipment dismantlement, size reduction of building material and the loading of demolition debris into rolloff boxes for transfer on the On-Site Disposal Facility.
