Hey guys, I'm currently active duty Air Force and thinking of applying for a job with Duke Energy; they don't have pay scales listed anywhere, anyone know current pay scale?

Duke only hires security from their pool of in house contractors. TPS (don't know what that stands for) is the contractor. Must be contractor for a year first and there's alot of them on site now waiting for their opportunity. With Duke you'll top at $24-25 /hr. TPS much less, hope this helps.

That is only the case with 1 station in the fleet, Mcguire. Oconee and Catawba hire a mix, in house and outside.

Depends on the position.  Management, staff, security instructor, shift leader, officer all pay different.  Do not let the keepers of the atom discourage you from applying.  I was from the outside (Retired Army) and shook things up and upset all the insiders.
Contractors on hourly wage (Supervisor and above) do very well for the work due to overtime.  Salary (management)is good but to be successful at the position you will put in long hours similiar to military.  Frustration level is high due to security not being understood.
I personnaly know individuals hired into Duke power from the outside.

Duke always posts thier internal jobs on thier web site. You can post submit your resume and if you meet the criteria they will contact you for further interviews. I don't know where "Slow" got his information, but the some of those positions do not exist in the pay structure. I have heard that top pay for a armed officier is around 24.00 and hour. I don't know how that compares to the rest of the industry since it is not my field.

Duke does not post security jobs to the public. They may on occasion post to the internal site but outsiders cant get there so obviously they can't submit a resume'. They do on occasion hire directly from outside world but normally they go through a staffing company like TPS and hire almost exclusively military. The exception is to align their non-existant quotas in their non-existant affirmative action plan!
Top hourly pay right now should be about $27 for security and unlimited OT for those that want it. There are some that have done 72's all year.
All other jobs can be found at the corporate site.

There are no current positions posted internally or externally that I know of

I think top pay for a security specialist is around 32/hr

I would advise you to submit a resume and see what happens.

Hiring practices do vary from site to site but if you submitt a resume that goes through corporate and is then handed down from there.

They also hire police officers

Can SOMEBODY give me a straight answer on how to apply for security with Duke Energy at any of the Nuke sites near Charlotte. Preferably Catawba site on Lake Wylie. I am moving upto the area soon. I am working now for the State Dept as a Security Operator and used to be on the NASA SWAT team. I am getting sick of being deployed in and out of the country and want to be able to stay home.
I have emailed Duke Energy,I was told they use Allied Security. I emailed Allied they had no idea about the Duke contract.
Both have no idea or answersfor me from what I have got through their Human Resources.

HOW CAN I GET A JOB as a Security Officer with Duke Energy in the S.C./N.C (Charlotte) Area.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

My husband is currently doing contract work for Duke Energy.  I'll see if he knows the answer to your question and will contact you.

I'm in Law Enforcement as well, looking into the same field...

Just look up NRC's Fitness for Duty requirements, still be able to pass background and gain clearance, pass company training for whatever level you can qualify for. (ie. Tactical Reaction team (I imagine similar to Swat team) or fixed post guard).

Other than that, looks like you just have to wait til a job opening comes up, or speak with the company's recruiter which seems harder than it looks.  Still haven't gotten a reply from a recruiter on the east coast.  Though I would like to stay West Coast/Mid West for family.
