Thinking of buying my wife a new Ford Escape to replace her 98 Explorer Sport. Can anyone give me feedback on the Escape? Will it pull a small motorcycle trailer? Realitistic mpg , longevity ?
comfortable for drivers in the 5'10" and below size range, 6' and above start to feel the "compact" part of the product description...
like all Fords the estimated mpg are about 10% below real world results after factoring in oxygenated gas, mandated additives and the up to 10% ethanol found in a lot of places,...
ride quality is good, build quality is good,....
if the transmission makes it past the first thirty thousand without problems it will shift forever without problems, don't ask me why it's just an observation of the half dozen or so Escapes owned by friends and family,...
with the V6 and front wheel drive plus the factory towing option our Escape pulls up to 2000 pounds like it's not even there, over 2,000 and up to the rated load of about 3,000 you begin to realize you do have something back there, the wedge trailers help about 20% with the fuel mileage, flat fronts are like towing a brick, especially as you pile the weight on,....
don't forget to turn off the traction control when trying to get started or moving slow through deep snow, it works against you in that narrow range of driving conditions,...
watch your tire pressure, if the attention light is on the traction control will not turn off and you will not get up my driveway in January, just ask my son in law, heheheheh,...
room for four adults and no more, if you want to put three across the back seat they need to be kids in that narrow age range where they are out of the boosters and car seats but not adult sized teenagers yet,...
the upholstery has been made out of some sorta ecofriendly soy based fabric since about 2010, don't spill anything on it, not even water, everything stains it, tan, black, gray, etc., the color does not matter, it'll hold stains and watermarks like a wound, albeit they do seem to fade after six months or so, I cannot explain that phenomenon,...
I like mine a lot, the bang for the buck ratio is very good, Ford did revamp the platform this past year and how much has carried over to the new facelift is anybodies guess,...
