NRC Clearance Question
« on: May 04, 2007, 12:59 »
Does the term "NRC Clearnace" mean unescorted access at a site, or is it related to special nuclear material access?  When does the clearance go from "Active" to "Inactive"?

Try this:

The standard outage worker gets a NRC-R clearance.

It is terminated (Inactive) when you leave the site.  However reopening (Activating) it within a year isn't very hard, so it wouldn't really be misleading if you've had one within a year to call it 'active'.

There is also a NRC "U" clearance, which is the equivalent of of a DOE "Q".  Not a requirement at Power plants, but is at Fuel Fabrication.

Yes, if you followed the link, it talks about all the clearances, what they mean, and how to get them, etc.
