security clearance question

i am wondering if i can get an clearance, probly an L clearance. About 5 years ago i was charged with trafficking a controlled substance (anabolic steriods) but i went to court and got it dismissed without prejustice. would this stop me from getting a clearance?

There are about 30 places on this site where that question has already been asked. There is a 'search' box that could help you find the answer and not look like a fool, but, too late.
The answer is that it shouldn't effect your clearance, but be honest on your clearance questionaire and don't try to hide anything.

If the charges were truly dismissed, not just plead down, and there are no other issues that reflect negatively on your trustworthiness or reliability you should be fine.  PM me if you want more specific criteria, or if you have questions about a particular site.
