Gentlemen,
Let's keep it respectable.  If you can't say something nice about each other, well you know the rest.

RHW,
All caps is the equivalent of shouting on the internet.  Please don't do it anymore.

Thanks,
Tom

Yeah.  And you can get run over by a horse in Dodge City too.  Oh, well maybe not anymore.
You should go there for once.  It isn't the same as it was before Giuliani.  Times Square is a place where you can take your kids.  In fact, it is full of them.  All the porno theaters have been replaced with Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Cafe, and stuff like that.
You can walk across town at 3 a.m. without getting mugged.  It is totally different from the New York you are describing.

BTW, does that butt kicking really hurt if they have already killed you?

...yo Beercourt,,What is it with all these NEGATIVE vibes,Man??..you are so negative always,,,the post was,,Indian Point, Westchester county, Orange county..not MANHATTEN...I described, ORANGE COUNTY..what is there,,,how long has it been since you were at Indian Point?...it is 45 miles north of NYC...across the river,,,and nestled in the Hudson Valley,,,nowhere near 42nd street.....so ease up with that negativity,,,,

Red,
I believe Beercourt was replying to RHW's post about NYC, not yours about Orange County.  I thought he was being very positive as opposed to that negative post.  By the way, I'd love to catch some of the great cars they run up that way.  Nothing like a big block modified.

Peace ya'll,
Tom

Actually, IP is 22 miles from NYC.  It's just a short train ride from Peekskill or Croton On Hudson down to Penn Station.  If you've never been to NYC, you really ought to go there for a day at least.  This time of year is best because it gets oppressively hot in the summer (which can be relly good if you are into girl-watching, but that's another topic).  Of course, the whole Hudson Valley is beautiful in the fall too.  If you have time, (even if it means staying a while after layoff) go check out West Point too.  In fact, why don't you all just move to New York State.  It's a great place to live.

So you're just too lazy to consider common courtesy, is that what you're saying?  I'm nowhere near courteous but I wouldn't have been as smart*** as your reply.  Lighten up and learn man!

DEAR MOPARMANIAC,

WAAAAAAAAAA !!!  COMMON COURTESY ? IT'S JUST TYPING !! LOWER CASE, UPPER CASE, WHATEVER !!  IT'S JUST WORDS ON A SCREEN, THERE IS NO "SHOUTING". I'VE EXPERIMENTED SEVERAL TIMES AND I CAN'T EVEN FIND A VOLUME LEVEL FOR THE WRITTEN WORD, LET ALONE A DIFFERENCE IN THE CASES.

RHW,
I was merely reminding you of the forum rules which can be found here: http://www.nukeworker.com/forum/index.php/topic,4700.0.html .  Rule #8 reads: 8. DON'T TYPE IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, IT IS THE ELECTRONIC VERSION OF SHOUTING AT PEOPLE.  May peace and tranquility shine upon your wonderfulness also.  We can all use a little.

Moparmaniac,
Please take the time to read the rules too and be more respectful.

Thanks in advance gents,
Tom

What is the status of Indian Point I?

SAFSTOR still?  Fuel in pool, or ISFSI, or...?  Any/all of the D&D started and/or completed?

Thanks!

Indian Point - Unit 1

1.0 Site Identification
Type of Site: Power Reactor Facility
Location: Buchanan,NY
License No.: DPR-5
Docket No.: 50-3
License Status: SAFSTOR
Project Manager: Ted Smith

2.0 Site Status Summary
Indian Point Unit 1 (IP-1) was shutdown in October 1974. Some decommissioning work associated with spent fuel storage was performed from 1974 through 1978. The NRC order approving SAFSTOR was issued in January 1996. A PSDAR public meeting was held on January 20, 1999. The licensee plans to decommission IP-1 with Unit 2 (IP-2), which is currently in operation and has requested an operating license extension. The licensee does not plan to begin active decontamination and decommissioning until the IP-2 license expires, which is currently in 2013. IP-1 spent fuel is in dry storage at the Indian Point Energy Center ISFSI in 5 casks.

IP-1 operated commercially from August 1962 until October 31, 1974. The plant was shutdown because the emergency core cooling system did not meet regulatory requirements. By January 1976, all spent fuel was removed from the reactor vessel.

3.0 Major Technical or Regulatory Issues
Low levels of groundwater contamination have been identified as originating at IP-1. The primary radionuclides involved are Sr-90 and tritium, and appear to be leaking from the spent fuel building. Entergy has moved IP-1 spent fuel to dry storage, has drained and cleaned the IP-1 spent fuel pool, and will continue long-term monitoring and reporting of site groundwater.

When I worked there, I rented a sleeping room at the corner of crack and gang one outage. And a bathroom/cabin the other.
