I am hoping someone could point me in the right direction in regards to employment w/ the DOE. I am a new resident here in AZ, previously from Hawaii. I am interested in possible security jobs at Palo. If anyone could help w/ a little information it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you fro your time and God bless,

And now begins my education. No... I was not aware that Palo Verde was not under DOE. If not DOE then who do they fall under. In Hawaii we have no nuclear plants that I am aware of so this is new to me. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you..

Try using the job board, there are 5 open positions listed for Palo Verde:

Palo Verde Auxillary Operator Job Class up
« Reply #5 on: Apr 25, 2008, 05:57 »
How often does Palo Verde class up for Auxiliary operators?? When will the next one be? Anyone who got in there this past March have some inside info on the interview, I hear its pretty technical. About when will they post the job on the website? Thanks in advance...

I have been hearing rumors about crazy money(bonuses) for SRO's hiring in at Palo Verde.  Any truth to them?

I know for a fact that they are "testing" for RP Techs this week.  I got an email from them 6 months after applying.

Does anyone know if Palo Verde is doing much hiring right now?  I'm an ex-nuke submariner who got out in 1990 as an mm1 and I'm living in Albuquerque right now.  The pay here for jobs sucks BAD, and I need to get out of here.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Does anyone know if there are regs about spouses working together at Palo Verde? My husband and I both work in the field and would love to re-locate to that area.

Probably best to email APS HR and ask that, since they would know any current policy.

I work at Palo Verde, know of no written policy prohibiting spouses from being hired and even know of married couple(s) that work in the same department.  There may however, be a policy as far as "working for" <OR> "under" a spouse (smile, smile).

Hope this is helpful.

PEACE.

They are hiring right now for AO's. The current class should be done in December, and the next class would start in January or February. The trick to getting hired as an AO at PV right now is to answer yes when they ask you if you would like to be a licensed operator at some point. The current management does not like the idea of a lifetime AO (which I strongly disagree with) and everyone hired for the last two classes has answered yes to this question. The rest of the interview is a few technical questions ( I remember a heat exchanger question, orifice/dp cell, and condenser vacuum questions, there are ten or so total), and a group interview with one of the VP's.

Hourly plus all overtime is paid at 1.5x times normal rate.  RO's get double time as well.

There is currently (June 21) a job posted by Atlantic for SHP techs for the Fall outage.

http://www.nukeworker.com/job/view.php?job_id=9427

As Palo Verde's oldest steam generators are 5.5 years old (Unit 2), this will actually be a RX head replacement, not an SGRP as advertised.  :)

Rad Techs / Sr. RP's beware.  This station can not staff for good reason.  Timing , pay, housing and supervision, supervision, supervision, supervision, supervision, supervision.... add a dash of site coordinator ( BIg Blue's)  and stupid.

Wow -- that would be a first. Pretty sure I don't want to be there when they do that.

Yeah, but you're in France... you give, you take, I guess...

Back on topic, Palo Verde has traded techs during past outages, but never with a French plant.

Operators?
How often do they pick up operators here?  I do radcon these days but like being a gear head very much too.  I watch the job search site but have yet to see an operator position open.
Thanks!

Does anyone know what the rate of pay is for an entry level AO at Palo Verde and what the expected progression would be?

Hi all, I get out of the Navy in about a year and was looking at Palo Verde.  I was wondering if they have an instant SRO program, & if so, when the approximate class ups are.  I have seen advice stated to go AO to license on the site, but nothing of the DSRO.

Thanks a bunch.
