Security clearance?

I WAS RECENTLY DENIED EMPLOYMENT DUE TO A CONVICTION OF SHOPLIFTING THAT OCCURED IN NOVEMBER. EVEN THOUGH I WASNT THE ONE STEALING WE ALL WERE CHARGED. THE STAFFER WAS THE ONE WHO NOTIFIED ME NOT SECURITY, IS THERE A REASON WHY AND CAN I APPEAL IT IN ANY KIND OF WAY.

Did you report it on your application or when you gave information for your background check?  If you omitted it that could be the reason for the denial, not the charge.  By the way, please don't type in ALL CAPS.  It's the internet form of shouting and it's also against the forum rules.

yes i reported it and i dont see why i wasnt able to work. this would be my first time working a nucleaur outage. they approved me going then she called and said that i couldnt go because of that. what should i do

iffen its yer first outage, there  may not be alot you kin do.  if ya were a working nuke then i'd tell yinz to call da plant security 'n talk to them.  seeing as how yer saying da recruiter said ya didn't pass muster, i'm thinking it may be a different way of shutting ya out of that plant this outage.  i cood be wrong.  there is always da legal recourse.  but that sword cuts both ways.

First of all, noonespecial, this is not a denial / revocation for an "unescorted clearance".  If you have never held an unescorted clearance with a Nuclear facility / utility, it is not a denial or revocation.  However, it is a denial to submit your resume and application FOR an unescorted clearance, by your recruiter / contract company.  This is a general policy used by most / all contract companys that staff nuclear facilities with sub contract personnel.  They are actually saving you the headaches of fighting a revocation of unescorted access.  Right now, if you have never held unescorted access, you have no PADS record.  What you need to do is gain documented proof of your innocence through the local jurisdiction that cited you of this crime.  At least show that the misdemeanor/criminal/felony offense has been dismissed.  If you are actually persuing a career in the Nuclear field, this matter needs to be resolved by the local/state laws where it happened.  For the simple reason you have never held an unescorted access with a Nuclear facility, there is no appeal process under the plant procedures where you are trying to gain the access, the NRC, or OSHA (Energy Reorganization Act).

I am speaking from experience.  Get this resolved BEFORE you try to apply for unescorted access.
