James V Brown
« on: Apr 22, 2008, 02:50 »
I just wanted to let everyone know that our brother, Jim Brown has suffered a massive stroke and is in a coma at the VA hospital in Nashville

Jim was an h.p. for several years in the 80's and 90's until his health forced him off the road. He was at the VA for test and was found in the parking lot unconscious; they have done brain surgery and other procedures but he is non responsive and partially paralyzed.

Please pray for him and his family, we could really use the support of our friends at this time...

Please continue to pray for Jim's family. I left Nashville yesterday and it is not good. He is at Vanderbilt and they are not hopeful at all. He apparantly passed out from low blood sugar and hit his head on the sidewalk. He is in a coma at this time and not responsive after 8 days. They will be making a decision in the next few days on whether to keep him on life support or to let him go.

I believe that so far in my life, this has got to be the hardest thing I have ever faced. Loosing your parents is hard, loosing a big brother is harder.

Thank you all for your emails and prayers, they really do mean a lot.

Another SAD day for the community.

It's been quite a number of years since I worked with Jim, (actually decades).  I last talked with him a couple of years ago and we had a few chuckles over some old war stories.  A great guy and he will be missed!

Prayers to the family........RG

Wow have not been on here in a long time. I knew Jim for a long time and had some great times with him and Brad back a long time ago. Jim was a stand up guy. We had a brother HP die in 87 and Jim let me drive his truck 4000 miles, to tow their 5th wheel back to NJ. And he never thought twice about it. I had drive it into one of the worst snow storms, and Jim was not even worried. He and others there did so much for that family that it effected all of us. He would have done anything for anyone in need. Thanks for the memories Jim. God must have needed a good Door Gunner, will miss you, but know when the time comes you will gladly greet us all at the Gates of Heaven.

Thank you to all of our friends who continue to support us in the loss of our brother; just knowing that he is remembered well brings me peace. Jim, Brad, Henry and I loved life on the road and the friends we made along the way. Those were the days when you lived together or near each other, we were like gyspies traveling from outage to outage with friends and family. Newer techs just don't have any idea of what we old timers shared and sadly they never will.

Jim missed life as a tech, he talked about it often and wanted to return to it so badly, why he did not get to do this he is in good company with those fellow techs who have also passed on.
