Insulator

I have worked in Security for Cooper Nuclear Station for 6yrs now. Now that I see what the industry has to offer. I would like to get into something else. I was accepted into the United Brotherhood of Carpenters/Millwrights as an apprentice. Which is good, I was wondering about becoming a insulator. Every job I have found they want experience which I have none. How do you gain experience when no one will hire you? I don't want to stay in Security for the rest of my life at least not at this plant- YUCK! Help!!!
