We have a general logon ID so that people can access the computer without all the IT paperwork. This allows access to the electronic logbook, survey maps, ALARA paperwork, tagouts, etc.
No real restrictions regarding internet, but obviously, if you're surfing all shift, someone will prompt you to return to work, usually by finding something nasty that needs doing....

I like that idea HouseDad.... no one should be surfing too long while work is needing to be done

While working with GE this spring at fukushima site 2 unit 3 ( 2F3 ) we all had LAN cables provided so we could check email, call home etc when not on the refuel floor. while this is not the norm for most u.s sites it was a nice perk for working in japan
