I was busted for underage drinking and blew a .04. Think is I was not drinking. I plead guilty as there was really no way to prove that I was not. I went through an online program for alcohol usage and never got my license taken or anything. Would this hinder my chance of getting unescorted access at FPL.
Also how much is credit history taken into consideration when granted access?
I see that you said underage drinking and not a DUI. As long as driving was not involved, you should have hired a lawyer then when you were in trouble. The system is supposed to work with you being innocent until proven guilty. You should have been adviced to get a lawyer by the police. If I had not been drinking and was asked to blow in a breathalyzer, I would have refused. I would even refuse if I had been drinking all night. There are protections in the 4th Amendment that would have allowed any good lawyer to rip the prosecutor to shreds.
While I was in school, the cops tried to get tough on under age kids drinking. They even had the nerve to walk up to random people in the middle of the day to search them for alcohol. On one occasion I was accosted and I simply refused their request for a search. I started to walk around the cop and they stopped me again. I then asked them if they were detaining me and with what cause. They just let me continue on my way after that. You have to standup for your rights in a way that won’t get you in trouble but also won’t let them get away with illegal police tactics.
It only gets tough if you were behind the wheel. If you were driving, that would be a tougher spot because driving is considered a privilege. You would have to blow to keep your license.
I any case, good luck to you with you tough situation. Tell the truth and I think you will do fine. I will give you a benefit of a doubt and believe your story of not drinking that day. I think it is crap that any cop can trump up charges that can have life long consequences for a young kid that is in a venerable position.
