Question about Hardship Discharge from Navy...
« on: Oct 15, 2009, 02:46 »
I am currently an active duty sub ELT with 5 years in.  Qualified through ERS (obviously), and LELT.  Not done with EWS yet but if time permits, I will be done in a few months.  Some things related to my daughter's health may have bought me into a hardship discharge.  Is an early discharge of this type a problem for a commercial nuclear power plant?  I am very interested in NLO positions.  (This is probably all I qualify for anyway...)

If anyone has been through this, or a similar situation, please let me know what I can expect.  I would like to work in the Region I if at all possible.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Don't sweat it. Its just a lot of paper work and paper chasing getting all the documentation done. Make copies of everything and stay on top of everyone, basically print out the instruction and do as much of it as possible, saving your command the time. Put on the Yeoman hat and get hot.

As far as NLO positions, you should not have a problem getting into commercial.

I received a hardship discharge back in 2001.  I was also sub ELT.  I am currently working as a NLO.  In other words it will not affect you at all.  Thanks for your service and my thoughts are with you and your family.
