My husband is getting out (assuming he finds a position), problem is we have no idea what to do/what he is qualified for etc. He is a LT. Did his time on a Fast Attack and is now in a training/teaching position while on shore duty. Did nuke pipeline/top of his class etc, ..He has an E.E. Degree from the Naval Academy. Completed all of his quals. He will have his Master Training Specialist cert. by the first part of the year. Also working on getting his masters. We are hoping to go back to East TN. so we were looking at TVA or Oak Ridge? He is VERY nervous about getting out but cant stand the deployments anymore. He did say that he didn't want to do shift work...which probably limits his choices dramatically. Any suggestions??
Well, he has a degree from a good school (nobody can claim the USNA is a matchbook cover diploma mill), so that is a start. He can try engineering - that is mostly dayshift, except for projects. He can try training / instructor positions, again mostly days except for certain specific times.
Do a search for those keywords in the forum, more info to be found there. As long as he realizes that being a Lt in the Nav isn't going to make anyone blink, he should be able to find something.
Good luck, and thank him for his service (and thank you for
your service)
