Diet: Is it possible to be a vegetarrian?

Say you're diet is strict vegetarian (no meat, no fish/seafood, no poultry, no eggs, dairy OK) would it be possible to survive a deployment on a sub (SSN vs SSBN?) or on a surface ship/carrier?

I sincerely doubt it.  I spent time on 2 cruisers and 4 carriers and would have had a very difficult time as a vegetarian. I cannot imagine how hard it would be on a sub.

Carriers at least get the luxury of periodic underway replenishments and more frequent liberty ports which include receiving fresh fruit and produce.  When a submarine runs out of lettuce, tomatoes, and oranges they are out.

It won't be fun but yes, you can do it, I had a friend on my sub who was a vegetarian.
