Whats the characterization like? Depth of contaminant,nuclide,contamination pattern, all will drive most efficient disposal method,especially if its a lot of material. Got to start with a good survey. A lot of factors will influence your plans,but a good characterization is the first thing.

They (USACE) want to try and decon it first with a good old college try......

Shortly after they abandon that effort, we will seriously look into shipping it to US Ecology.

All options are still on the table, as of the latest conference call.

What decon method will they employ?  Each method results in a different "Decontamination Factor" (% Removed).

Will they grit blast it? Flapper Wheel it? Wire wheel it? Pressure wash it?  Scabble it?  Shave it?  Dump some chemicals on it?  Smear tuna on it, and employ kittens?
