go coastie?

I have heard about getting out of the navy, at EAOS and then rejoining at the same rank as when you got out. is there any way to go from blue to coastie like this? I figure it would be another one of those, nukes not apply things.

I do not know if this is still the case, but here's a little story. We had a LELT back in the mid 80's. He got out and tried to reenlists as a MR, if I remember correctly. He was told no, that he could only rejoin as a nuke. So he went to the Air Force and tried to join with their equivalent job. They told him that he could not join, after all he was a navy nuke. He wound up reenlisting as an ELT just like he was before.
