Waste shipping pay

Anyone have any ideas about what a waste shipping specialist position pays in TN? I think I might be getting low-balled.

   Very broad range depending on experience and responsibilities. If all you are doing is just one aspect of the process I would not expect much. I have seen shippers (brokers) here (Oak Ridge) that act essentially as the Project Manager and handle the entire gamut of personnel management, characterization, waste profiles for the landfill, packaging, and shipment. Then there are those that get a package already to go fill out the shipping papers and watch the truck (or train) leave. I have worked here as a Waste Specialist and made more than many of the project managers in the company, then there are those who just watch boxes being filled and make entry level pay. Don't get to hung up on the titles, if you are working here as a contractor pay will follow responsibilities. I have shipped hundreds of thousands of cubic feet of waste from remediation's and demolitions and I do not consider myself a shipper, if you do not do it full time all year it is difficult to keep up with the regs. A six month lull from shipping is enough to make me feel like I am starting all over again.
   Do some networking, figure out where you are in the "Food Chain" and go from there.

After several new opportunities appeared out of thin air and sounded too good to be true (all of which indeed turned into disappointments).  Sometimes a closing door can lead to new and brighter path.

I have had a new opportunity manifest itself recently. It is what I am looking for in terms of my long term career path & goals. The short term is what I am concerned about, but I know that I need to put my time in and pay my dues to get where I want to be.

Without jinxing myself with posting details, does anyone have any ballpark ideas as to the pay rates of shippers at all levels of experience (i.e., Junior, Experienced (Non-Senior) Level)? I think I have a handle or more senior level pay. I am more concerned with the entry level and up pay scales.

$22/hr to $120/hr.  (How's that for a range?)

Like anything, it depend on your qualifications and experience.  I've seen Jr. Shippers make as little as $22/hr.

I've seen 'Experienced non-senior level' people get paid anything form $32/hr to $48/hr.
