The dude had 400 R/hr balls...that's some balls!!! Intersting read. I have the full article on the Atomic man from the Hanford accident. Also interesting but the Atomic man lived.

Two of the Army Health Physics Techs involved with the recovery of the bodies from the SL1 were some of my mentors when I started into Radiation Protection. Their experience also helped me with the challenges I encountered during the early days of the accident at TMI. I have heard a number of interesting stories about the SL1 over the years.

The civilian RadCon instructor for ELTs in Idaho through the 70s was on the recovery team.

I was working with Vic when he died. I was there. He was a good man and I think about him and the event of his death quite a bit. I did'nt know he was at sl-1. If he talked at all about it back then I probably would not have known what he was talking about. He mainly talked about home and I got the impression he really loved his wife. That outage was to be his last, he planned to retire. At the time he was one of the few truly old timer hps I had encountered and I was just beginning to see my profession from  a way different perspective. I didn't have much since back then and have only a little more today, but I value highly the stories and wisdom from men like Vic.
If you care to,please share your stories.

I have a few more interesting things but will be slow to post because of a one page at a time flat bed scanner.
