The dude had 400 R/hr balls...that's some balls!!! Intersting read. I have the full article on the Atomic man from the Hanford accident. Also interesting but the Atomic man lived.

Two of the Army Health Physics Techs involved with the recovery of the bodies from the SL1 were some of my mentors when I started into Radiation Protection. Their experience also helped me with the challenges I encountered during the early days of the accident at TMI. I have heard a number of interesting stories about the SL1 over the years.

The civilian RadCon instructor for ELTs in Idaho through the 70s was on the recovery team.

Vic Alara (yes that was his real name) worked SL-1. I learned a lot from Vic . Sadly he has passed .....
