BTW I like virtually everyone on this site. Those who know me in person will vouch that I'm more likely to ask, " What The H*** do you want?", then I go about helping them. I won't apologize for my viewpoint that prospective nukes should come here with the following skills:

1: Humility
2: Ability to research and search prior to asking their question, none None of these snowflakes have new or unique issues.
3: The ability to spell correctly, punctuate correctly and to present themselves in a logical manner, both Both of my children can do this, so there's no reason a future nuke shouldn't be able to do so as well.
4: The ability to take a swift kick in the ass and say, "Thank you sir, may I have another please?".

Let's face it, every good nuke any of us have has ever known has possessed these fundamental skills in abundance,Why shouldn't should the "cupcakes" not be required to have them too?

Ok I am gonna bite the bait.  Humility is not a trait I would say you would ooze.................nor do many on here.

That said, I am glad to see this conversation going on.  I too decided it was best to not input/post due to many of the "antics" I had seen.  I didnt give up on it totally (still lurk and view from time to time) but not as much as I used to.  And it certainly helped make my mind up on whether to renew as a GM, which I didnt.  It really became harder and harder to bite my tongue (virtual that is), so rather than fight the fight, I left or sat in the back corner of the room.

I will say this, if the conversations are more like this I would consider coming back.  And as a GM to boot.

Honestly, I think we all (i.e., professional nukes) "ooze" so much at work (along with the other traits BZ bulleted) that when we log in here....we have nothing left.

A wise GM member told me:  "Lighten up...after all, it's just the Internet".

Otherwise, I'm sure Mr. Rennhack would appreciate a little stimulus money thrown his way.  Many of us here have very nice incomes.   It's through humility that perhaps we "donate" to a good cause?

I agree however, me personally I usually just say to Have a Day, far be it from me to tell someone what kind of day to have (a little of that humility maybe?).  Besides, I don't know about the rest of you, but most of my Navy days weren't very fine (sorry,  )

I actually had a heck of a good time in the Navy. I met my three best friends there, got to do some interesting things, spent over 5 years of it in Florida, Idaho, and San Fran places I might not otherwise have ever seen and even though at times it sucked it certainly beat pumping gas in Nowhere Ohio for a living.

Funny thing about humility is when I say prayers with my two girls at night I have them pray for two things: strength and humility.  I will definitely incorporate what you said here into it.  Much like the serenity prayer.

My kids always seem a little puzzled as to why I have them pray for these things.  IOW, why not just pray for an end to world hunger or for world peace.  Its about the actions is what I tell them.  We are all capable of helping our fellow man.  I think most of us here share that belief.  Perhaps, your message of a person possesing the ability to help one's self is lost in the delivery.  I know I tend to focus on how I can help the individual rather than promoting his/her's own self help.

Different strokes, but in the end the same result, someone gets helped.
