Marssim posted "April 18, 1999" Yesterday at 14:15 in the karma log notes, for his applaud of me.

You want to know something about April 18, 1999? (Other than it was 11 Years, 6 Months, 17 days ago?)

The WHOIS of NukeWorker.com reads "Domain Name: NUKEWORKER.COM, Created on: 18-Apr-99".  But that's not the whole story.

At that time, 02/01/99-04/27/99, I was working at Hatch for GTS/Duratek on my second power plant Sr. HP job (with SmartPeople, and
Dee Ingram).  I won my first football pool that outage which is a story for another time, but worth the listen.

My first job with GTS/Duratek was a year before that, 03/10/98-07/24/98, at Vermont Yankee as a Sr. Deconner.  It was my ‘last’ decon job, as I had transitioned into HP already.  It is where I met Bob and Greg Reece.  Bob's AOL screen name was NukWrkr, and he had a vanity plate that read the same.  It was the inspiration for the name of the website I registered 18-Apr-99, and is the name of our mascot, in his memory.  Bob left us 12-9-03, but will always be remembered.  I already had Rennhack.net, which was technically the 'birth' of NukeWorker.  It was registered August 28th 1998, during my first visit to Hatch (08/10/98-11/13/98) with GTS which was also my first SR HP job at a power plant.  I was one month too late to get rennhack.com. While at VY, I made a treasure hunting website for Greg, named Treasr.com (his vanity plate), and I continued to work on his site until around the time NukeWorker was created.

Something else unique about 18-Apr-99.  April 18th is the day my mom was born in 1947. That particular date, is eight years after she died on June 1, 1991.

(My father joined her this year).

Nine days after she died, I started working for Bartlett for the first time, at DC Cook, for the second time 06/10/91-12/31/91, which gave me the experience to get a road job.

Is it a coincidence that the date the site was registered is my dead mothers birthday, and the site was named after a friend that later passed away?  I don't know, but seeing MARSSIM post that date in the karma log notes got me to take a stroll down memory lane today, and I thought I'd bring you along for the ride.

Note: Looking back, SmartPeople is one of the few people still alive from the story.  Sadly, the football pool story also involves death, now that I think about it.

Who Me? Wouldn't think of it.

Couldn't help but note many references to your time at Cook. Seems like I would have run into you but I can't remember having done so. Lots of RP folks used to drop by the Country Gal back in the early 90s. They collected a fair amount of my OT. Still hang out with house RP folks some time.  Of course it could be I did run into you at the Gal and that's why I don't remember.
