First Visit to Site
« on: Nov 09, 2011, 01:00 »
As my username indicates I am new to the nuclear industry. I will be visiting a nuclear plant for the first time under escorted access and have a question about gaining entry. What do I need to gain entry to the site? Photo id, passport, will I need to complete any type of questionnaire? I assume that the standards for escorted access are far less stringent than those for unescorted access?

I ask because I got into a little trouble when I was a kid. I was arrested about 18 years ago (I was about 20 yrs old) for possession of marijuana, I plead no contest, enrolled in a county program,  never got into trouble again and my record was expunged.

I will disclose this information if asked but I want to know if this will prevent me from gaining escorted access and eventually unescorted access?

Thanks!

It should not keep you from being escorted.  Just make sure you include this information when you fill out any security forms as they WILL find out.

Good luck

Read the security questions closely.  Some will say "Have you EVER", others may want to know if you have ever in the last 7-10 years.

Definitely disclose everything.  Even if they ask for last 7, and it was 20 years ago, if you list it, they can choose to not worry about it because it was outside of their required parameters.

Look for a reply from our Subject Mater Expert, "Graphic", he is the authority on this matter, and I'm sure he will reply soon.

You will have no issues gaining access. Anything drug/alcohol related has to be in the past 5 years to really hurt you. Of course if you have multiple drug/alcohol charges over multiple years that's a different story. Just make sure you do list it on the paperwork you fill out. Other than that you shall be good to go with what you gave us.

Good luck

Thank you for everyone's input.

Aside from a traffic ticket for failure to yield, this arrest 20 years ago was the only trouble that I have been in. I will make sure to list the arrest and expungement regardless of the timeframe.

Thanks again!
