Just Got to Goose Creek

I took the NFQT and just went through boot camp as a female. I got a waiver for poor grades and dropping out of high school. If you have any questions, send me a message and ask me. No, I won't give you test information. I'll just tell you not to sweat it.

I went through as a male. We didn't have a choice back in my day....

You say it like it was by choice in some kind of free spirited way of taking advantage of the new "come as you are" Navy....

How much, if any, time do you have between graduation and reporting to A School?

Enough time to buy an alarm clock, non boot camp underwear, and scam insurance policies at the mall. Ohh yeah, best buy.

Not much more.

zmorgn - Son of DadofFutureNuke had the afternoon and early evening of graduation to hang out with Mom and Dad, eat some non-Navy food and see a movie. Then it was back to Great Lakes and on the bus to the airport at 2:00 the next morning with the rest of the future nukes. This is apparently not uncommon for nukes but of course YMMV according to the Needs of the Navy.

We sent him a box of civilian clothes as soon as we got his class number.

I got to NNPTC at like noon the day after graduating boot camp. We had the weekend off. The first thing people normally do is go to Subway then head to Best Buy.

Enjoy goose creek. You will like it until june, which is when the walk from the barracks to rickover will leave a swamp in ur pants. (2-8) mins depending on which one you're assigned to.

Words of warning as I've seen 70% of my a school class leave the nuke program in one way or another in the last 2 years. Stay away from parties, especially people you don't fully know. If they(your slpo) tell you not to do something, like give underage kids alcohol... don't do it. It seems silly and easy advice, BUT you will find yourself in a place where there is trouble. Especially being a female you will probably get invited to any party on or off base...

Please don't get involved romantically in the pipeline, there will be plenty of oppurtunities after this. IT Doesn't usually work out.

Someone from my bootcamp has already been married and divorced and engaged 2 times afterwards... its not worth it.

Those are my do's and dont's... well mostly dont's. Have fun!

2 have which have been masted but are still in.
I really like this program and its sad to see I only have 3 months left,
But I really can't wait to see the real Navy:P

My son has 2 months left to go in his power school class, his GPA is currently right around the top quarter of the class.

A school section started with 24 and graduated 17 (16 graduated with the class, 1 med roll back graduated with the following class, so he counts I guess).  So that is 1/3 gone during A school.   He said in  power school, some are hanging on by the skin of their teeth.  He said the most recent test right before Christmas, of his power school section of 33 ET students, 14 flunked the exam.  He did fine on it  but jeez ... the means more than 40% failed the test.

Regarding people getting masted he said Yes, they still have captain's mast EVERY WEEK and people are getting tossed out left and right.  There does seem to be a lot of attrition among people who are in the pipeline now.  It is hard to believe they are still such knuckleheads left that made it this far after being at Goose Creek for close to a year, but they are still bagging people.

Dad of a 22 year old ETN.
