Meet the new boss same as the old boss... apparently we can be fooled again.

 [coffee]

Not fooled,....overruled,....

It's a democracy, if people want little nuclear gravesites with lethal for 10,000 year spent fuel and GTCC in their backyards, guarded by overweight, underpaid, "sure not gonna stick around when 20 armed terrormongers in a Dodge Sprinter" pull up to the "usta be a nuke plant here, now it's just an ISFSI surrounded by pine trees" concrete pad with big concrete monoliths standing on it the people will get,.....

What they voted for,...

Hope and Change,.....

Hope the suicidal terrormongers don't figure out how to crack a few of those cans open before the real guards fly in,....

Change your address real soon if they do, because your property value is gonna plummet to nothing,....

been there, dun that,... the doormat to hell does not read "welcome", the doormat to hell reads "it's just business"

I'd be glad to buy that land, the casks (most of them) are well-made, and more pheasant hunting land for all of us! ;)

My only issue is where she stands on the WIPP site and if she is trying to move the site to Carlsbad.

This single issue voter was pretty unhappy about the Reid/Markey quick endorsement. This plus some state issues are making me look like Thenukeman.

WIPP will be the compromise deal, it will get studied and touted and debated. At the last minute, when states are getting ready to approve transshipment routes and actually move fuel, THEN the "Friends of Trotsky" will produce some cobbled-up geologic survey about possible underground aquifers blah blah blah wind and solar blah blah blah conservation LED bulbs blah blah... >:(

In the voice of Lloyd Bentsen, fall of 1988: "You quote TheNukeman. You've never deprived your child of food for being anti-nuclear in a restaurant. I know TheNukeman. You're no TheNukeman..."   8)

Obama Says Safe Nuclear Power Plants are a Necessary Investment

...Acknowledging that there are some “serious drawbacks” with respect to nuclear power that still need to be addressed –like the storing and disposal of waste safety–  the president said the issue of safety would be an imperative going forward. ...

Obama Drops Nuclear Energy from Convention Speech

...But to this reporter, sitting amongst the cheering throngs at Mile High, one point hit a decidedly sour note.

In the section on energy, which began with the understanding that the country’s economy, security and energy futures are intertwined, Obama pledged to “end our dependence on oil from the Middle East” in ten years, and also spoke of investing $150 billion in renewable energy over that same decade. But then the Democratic nominee added this:
"As President, I will tap our natural gas reserves, invest in clean coal technology, and find ways to safely harness nuclear power."
...

...Fast, uh, “forward” four years, move indoors and 2,000 miles east, and listen to what President Obama had to say about America’s energy future in his 2012 convention speech:......

...But notice what is not there–not in this section, not in the paragraph about the climate, not anywhere in the entire 38-minute speech.

President Obama no longer promises to “safely harness nuclear power”–that likely would have sounded like a cruel joke in a world now contaminated by the ongoing Fukushima disaster–but beyond that, he does not promise anything about nuclear power at all. There was no platitude, no carefully crafted signal to the industry that has subsidized much of Obama’s political career, no mention of nuclear power whatsoever.
....

....But the fact remains that at a convention underwritten by the head of a large nuclear energy conglomerate, nuclear energy didn’t even rate head-of-state lip service. That in a country where the nuclear industry tries desperately to brand itself as an energy of the future, the president decided to, at least rhetorically, leave it in the past. And that in a time where apostles of the atom claim that there is a nuclear rebirth, Barack Obama decided, on one of his biggest nights, that nuclear power would be better left for dead......
