Anyone know what the pay scale is for an nuclear operations instructor? My husband has an interview with Duke Energy and we are both curious about the pay scale.  :)

The pay can vary for the ops instructors.  For example a simulator trainer may be paid more because of the knowledge related to simulator operations versus an instructor who may be only doing classroom or AO type systems training.  VC Summer, one has to understand, is one of the lowest paying utilities in the country, regardless of what their operator comments may be.  In some cases as much as 10 to 15% less, so shop around for other payrates.  Duke and Southern are not much better so consider the local of the rates shown because that in most cases identifies the local of the plant.

@ Duke you should be right around that $80k number plus another 10-15% annual incentive bonus. throw in an outage job (paid overtime) once or twice a year and you can expect $100-110k/year to start.

Good to know. He actually has 3 job interviews for training positions so it will be interesting to see differences between companies. Thanks :)
