I use Nukeworker.com for...
« on: Jan 03, 2004, 05:04 »
I confess to using Nukeworker.com for Outage gossip and Forum Hijinks although the Moderators keep me (and others) under control for the most part.

If it wasn't for bad karma, I'd have no karma at all

I was going to mark "information exchange with others," but to do that I would need to be able to offer something and I have only received so far. So it had to be "job info" as that covers just about everything including the gossip. ;D

I come here for the information that is available here, some of which isn't available anywhere else on the web, at least any of the sites that I have visited.  I guess the Nuke News classifies as information, doesn't it?

I use it for:

1) Job search. :-?

2) Amusement - reading posts. [smiley=laugh.gif]

3) Flirting with NukeRecruiter  [smiley=1luvu.gif], but the girl just won't take the bait.

4) This site also has comprehensive Study Guide info - highly recommended. (y)

5) Keeping tabs on old roadies. [smiley=wave.gif]

Uh, not necessarily in that order either.  [smiley=1luvu.gif]

I use it to receive info`s about the North American Nuclear Industry, to laugh about Slogo`s comments ;D , get insight into the HP business  :o and get informed about Nuclear News world wide.
Furthermore it enabled me to get in touch with some nice guys, and I learned about their point of views.  :)
Unfortunately we don`t have any comparable website here in Germany.
Good job.

I use nukeworker for a variety of things, one is email because you can check it just about anywhere, even at work.  I also like to read the outage news and see what's going on in other places.  The most important reason is for the pictures.  I like to post pictures for every plant I go to, so people can come to this website and look at them.

That news list is just for Region II.

Here is a better list for you, you pick the plant, it gives you the news, weather, pictures, maps, facility rating, lodging, directions, etc... all on one page:

Gossip definitely, easy way to keep up on what's going on out there!!!  Job search once in awhile and lodging info on occasion.

Of course I have to admit that if I am that point when my brain is fried and doesn't want to function anymore---I find a couple of post by SloGlo....by the time I get done reading them everything else in the world is somehow easier to understand!! There are others who have a high entertainment factor with their postings but SloGlo wins it!

Used to use it just to spin up some oldies here... but with the "PCness" running rampant, I use it to exchange info now.

I do check on jobs, post my resume, and follow outage schedules (although I do get the schedule for free elsewhere).

I do keep in touch via the IM..... miss the email though.

And I will keep coming back, as long as there are you good people to chat with...

Half of the jobs I have worked in the last 7 years have come from the info I received on this site but I also stay in contact with lots of old friends on here.
Nuke worker is also a great venue for debate on about any topic you can think of,and I think most of us feel like a good debate is like exercising our minds and helps us to stay sharp and on top of our games.
I also think that not nearly as often as we should,we do not thank the people on here that work hard at keeping this wonderful tool  up and running.(The site creator, and moderators)Thanks all.(Now just a little Karma my way)---Paul

Meaning anyone to the right of Karl Marx?

At least his point of view is mildly amusing until his song gets stuck on the same note for too long.
