Away from Nuclear site more than 1 year
« on: Feb 20, 2013, 10:23 »
During my most recent job search I have found the requirement to have been badged at a nuclear site within 1 year. Is it more difficult to badge a person who has not been badged for more than a year? More expensive?

The background check goes back to the last time you held unescorted access, so they would have more time vested in checking your background. You would be required to take the MMPI test, or the equivalent, depending on which test that particular site uses. The requirement mandated by the NRC is psychiatric evaluation if you have not been badged in the last 365 days. In my experience someone who has been out longer than a year takes approximately 4 days longer to get a badge.

Edited for grammer error spell check missed.

ksheed is correct about it all. In other words you'll have to provide 3 references, they will check your credit again and you will have to take the lovely MMPI or PAI like he said. Also, expect to have plenty of computer based training to requal on! Good luck

Thanks for the information. What it looks like is that the utility doesn't want to be bothered doing the MMPI since the other 3 references and the credit check were done even when I had not been granted UEA for less than a year.

Well if you were out for more than a year I don't know how the utility could get around giving you the MMPI. Those are NRC regulations not a utilities decision really. They will typically do the MMPI when you come in to process your first day or the same day as your drug test etc. If you sent your PHQ in through fax/email then they will complete your background before you even go to process in, in some cases.

Hey at least you get paid to take it right? lol.
