SRO Interview Attire
« on: Jul 06, 2013, 04:45 »
I am being flown out for an SRO licensing class interview and was looking for some guidance on what to wear.  I own a nice suit, however the email I was sent said business casual.  So would a suit be inappropriate for this situation?

Darn, I did a search...but obviously not a good enough one.  Thanks.

for others not privy to your PM,...

some of the best of the "been there, done that" crowd also waxed eloquent here:

after reading through all of it at some point you have to make that decision for yourself,...

yup, something as small as "What to wear?" is all on you,...

unlike the Navy, you will have to take ownership of the daily nuances and consequences of all your decisions, even the small ones, and sometimes the small ones can enhance or cripple your success as much as the big ones,...

and it's all on you,.... welcome to the big leagues,.... 8)

Yeah, this is one of those things that you never really think of as being an issue throughout the process.  I think I will probably end up going with a suit just to fail safe, since you can always take off the suit jacket.  I will bring a separate suit for my doughnut eating so that the stains are not an issue ;).

Business casual is just fine, especially if they take you on a plant tour.

The comments on that video are both sad and hilarious, at the same time.

UPDATE::

I figured that some people might find this information useful, so here's the follow-up.  I went in and it turned out it was just for me to take the BMST and POSS (they were planning on more people showing up and didn't think there'd be time for interviews).  I ended wearing a nice button up, dress pants, dress shoes and a nice belt.

Is the ELT the one on the left or the right?

Update to the update of the update:  So I got the call today that I should receive my offer within a couple of hours at my first choice plant!  I am extremely excited to begin the SRO process, although I'm sure it will be one of the most difficult things I've ever done.  Not too bad for six and out.   ;D
